Rentinstead.com was started in Albuquerque, New Mexico when one of the company founders could not find an inexpensive way to rent a Recreational Vehicle (RV).  No method existed for renting an RV or anything else, from a business or individual where the entire transaction would be carried out on-line.  After gathering a couple more partners with locales on both the west and east coasts, Rent-Instead was born to create this service!   

Then the work began. We took two years to develop and test our website. That may seem like a lot of time and it is!  We worked meticulously to ensure that every aspect of rentals and sales could be done through the website to allow Owners and Renters/Buyers to transact business with no prior rental experience at all.  

rentinstead.com has features that allows making reservations, collecting deposits, collecting rental and purchase amounts, developing contracts between parties, Rent-to-Own, Buy-Instead, rental cancellations by both parties as well as ability to negotiate discounts.  In other words, we put all the features we would want as an Owner or Renter/Buyer for transacting business on-line!    

rentinstead.com offers something completely new.  If you have items that you don’t use regularly and would like to make some money, consider entering a free listing.  Each item you list will have its own calendar so you can block any day(s) that you prefer your item not be available for rent.  As an option, you can make your item available for purchase.  But before doing any of this, you’ll need to register but that only takes a couple of minutes.
